Everything you need to know about Sign & Display
Sign & Display is an incredibly varied market, that is home to many widely different products. It ranges from photo-print, over hanging or roll-up banners, car and bus wraps to huge billboards. To capture this variety, the GWG developed a sign & display specification around two key variables:
- Average viewing distance, which is defined as the average distance that will exist between people looking at the printed job and the job itself. This could be as little as half a meter for a photo-print or as much as 50 meters for a highway billboard.
- Scaling factor, which is how many times the job as delivered to the printer has to be enlarged before being printed. This is because in many sign & display workflows, print jobs are delivered scaled down by a factor of 2, 10…
Note that the Sign & Display specification does not cover small format digital print, the Ghent Workgroup has developed separate guidelines for this segment.
