SUMMARY:9th Conference on Information and Graphic Arts Technology
DESCRIPTION:Chair of Information and Graphic Arts Technology kindly invites you to participate at the 9th Conference on Information and Graphic Arts Technology\, which will take place at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering\, Snežniška 5 in Ljubljana\, Slovenia from 11 to 12 April 2024. \nThe two-day scientific conference will provide a unique opportunity to bring together researchers and experts from different fields of graphic communications to share their knowledge and knowhow\, and take part in discussion\, while providing a starting point for further development in the fields covered by the event topics. \n  \nSpeakers from Ghent Workgroup:\nThursday 11 April 2024 at 9.15 am \nThe State and Future of Print technology and processes and the Role of the GWG in the Print Community – David Zwang (Chair GWG) \nThis presentation will look at the evolving changes in print technologies and processes. It will include a look at print and finishing/converting technologies with an emphasis on automation\, ai\, and connected processes that support a connected world. \n  \nThursday 11 April 2024 at 10 am \nPreflight and its role in print production – Christian Blaise (Marketing Officer GWG) \nMany stakeholders are working on delivering a perfect file from agency to press. Therefore\, to ensure the quality of the exchanged material\, preflight has been playing a key role in this production chain. This presentation will cover the evolution of preflight\, from the early days where the control focused on technical aspects of the received PDF\, current preflight processes where on top of the technical check\, job content is also preflighted\, to the future of preflight and correction using AI. \n  \nFriday 12 April 2024 at 9 am \nPDF2.0 and PDF/X-6 – Freddy Pieters (member GWG) \nAlthough PDF2.0 has already been published in 2017 the adoption rate is still very low. This presentation focuses on the new features of PDF2.0 that are relevant for the graphic industry. It provides insights in the added value and also lack of added value of some of these new features. These insights can help explain why PDF2.0 has not yet established itself\, but also why authoring application developers should make more efforts to support it. As support for PDF2.0 rises users will also have to rely on the use of PDF/X-6\, a new version of the PDF exchange format that is based on PDF2.0. \n  \nFor more info\, click here
